When Should Children Have Their First Dental Visit?
Each child is different and develops at a different rate. Because of this, every child’s first dental appointment will vary, and we are here to make sure that it goes well!
A child should see the dentist approximately between the arrival of their first tooth and their first birthday. By having an appointment at this young age, we are able to ensure that their teeth are forming correctly, their gums are healthy, and start teaching them the importance of regular proper oral hygiene.
We advise parents to stay positive leading up to and during the appointment. Many children will read their parents’ body language. If their parent has had a bad experience at the dentist, it can sometimes be transferred to the child.
Finally, we suggest that you schedule a morning appointment for your child, if your schedule allows. In the mornings, children tend to be more cooperative and fully rested. This will help them be more easy going and relaxed.
Our entire staff is dedicated to helping your child from a very young age and always has their best interest at heart. If you have any questions or would like to schedule an appointment, contact us today at (760) 201-4085.
